Consent for Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is intended to support relaxation, reduce stress, ease muscle tension, promote general wellness, and improve comfort and mobility. I understand that the response to massage therapy varies from person to person and that Still Hour Studio does not guarantee any specific outcome or result.
I understand that massage therapy is not a substitute for medical examination, diagnosis, treatment, physical therapy, psychotherapy, chiropractic care, or other services provided by a licensed healthcare professional. My massage therapist does not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, or provide medical advice. I understand that I should consult a qualified healthcare provider regarding any medical concerns and that Still Hour Studio may request medical clearance before providing or continuing massage therapy when appropriate.
I voluntarily consent to receive massage therapy from Still Hour Studio. I understand that massage may include the use of pressure, movement, stretching, compression, and other hands-on techniques appropriate to the service I selected. I understand that the massage therapist may modify the techniques, pressure, positioning, or areas addressed based on my health history, physical condition, comfort, and professional judgment.
I agree to communicate openly with my massage therapist before and during the session. This includes communicating about pressure, pain, discomfort, temperature, positioning, draping, product sensitivities, areas I do or do not want addressed, and any changes in my physical or emotional condition. I understand that I should immediately report any pain, numbness, dizziness, difficulty breathing, unusual discomfort, or other concerning reaction.
I understand that I may request changes to the pressure, technique, positioning, temperature, music, or draping at any time. I may also ask that a particular area not be massaged. I have the right to pause or end the session at any time and for any reason. I understand that the massage therapist may also modify, pause, or end the session if continuing would be unsafe, inappropriate, outside the therapist’s professional scope, or inconsistent with Still Hour Studio’s policies.
I understand that professional draping will be used throughout the massage session and that only the area currently being worked on will be uncovered. I may undress only to my personal comfort level, and I understand that I may leave on any clothing I choose. I agree to communicate if I would like the draping, room temperature, positioning, or any other aspect of the session adjusted.
I understand that some people may experience temporary tenderness, soreness, fatigue, lightheadedness, emotional release, or other short-term responses following massage therapy. I agree to inform the massage therapist of any unusual or persistent reaction and to seek medical attention when appropriate.
I confirm that the health, medication, injury, allergy, sensitivity, and other information I have provided is accurate and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that withholding or failing to update relevant information may affect the safety or appropriateness of my massage session.
I accept responsibility for informing my massage therapist before each appointment of any change in my health, medications, pregnancy status, injuries, surgeries, pain, skin condition, allergies, or other circumstances that may affect massage therapy. I understand that Still Hour Studio may postpone, modify, or decline a service if the therapist determines that massage may not be appropriate or that medical clearance is needed.
By signing or electronically accepting this consent, I confirm that I have had an opportunity to ask questions, that my questions have been answered to my satisfaction, and that I voluntarily consent to receive massage therapy under the conditions described above. This consent will remain in effect for future appointments unless I withdraw it or Still Hour Studio asks me to complete an updated consent form.
